I advise friends, family and clients who are new to home buying because they admittedly are NERVOUS because they are in the dark with it comes to the timeline of buying a home. It's OK! When you are new to a new subject, it can be intimating. It's natural to be cautious to enter into something unknown. Especially when you are talking about spending a LOT on what will become your home. Here is a great graphic to help learn about costs that may be unknown to buyers. Housing outlook for 2019: Is it too late to buy?
One conversation that constantly keeps being asked to me is, are prices going down? Should I wait to buy? My reply is that real estate is still a great long term investment and if you can afford to buy now, then go for it. Economists are saying, "if you can find a house you can afford in a neighborhood and school district you like and plan to live there more than five years, then market ups and downs won’t affect you, said Richard Green, director of USC’s Lusk Center for Real Estate".
