Exploring the Allure of Monterey Coast Living

What's Your Passion?

Do you have a passion for Seabird watching? If so, the Monterey Audubon Society setup a Seawatch program which documents all the migratory seabirds moving past Point Pinos (just South of Pacific Grove) in late autumn. According to the Audubon Society "Point Pinos and Monterey Bay, which it overlooks, are unique. Perhaps nowhere else on North America's West Coast are oceangoing birds move visible from a terrestrial viewpoint." Unique habitats, upwelling and nutrients attract many marine predators, including birds. This gives Seabird watchers the ability to see the movements of these special birds as they migrate to and from their breeding grounds. Over 30 species of Seabirds are commonly seen in Nov/Dec. Some of these species include the Pacific Loon, Black-vented Shearwater, Surf Scooter, Cassin's Auklet and Common Murre.

Pacific Grove

The quintessential seaside small town situated in a spectacular location between Monterey and Asilomar/Pebble Beach. With beautiful ocean views and designated one of the top 5 places with the cleanest air, it's been labeled "Butterfly Town U.S.A." because of the thousands of Monarch Butterflies that envelop the area during the winter after travelling 2,000 miles. They begin to arrive in October, peak around Christmas departing around March. Also, a popular destination for oceanside weddings, one can often see multiple wedding ceremonies taking place at Lover's Point and other beautiful locations along the Pacific Grove coast. With an abundance of things to do and community events, even visitors feel like residents when attending one of the many annual Pacific Grove events such as "Good Old Days", and "Feast of Lanterns" celebrations. Pacific Grove is also home to one of the finest municipal golf courses along the ocean front. Fun, challenging, affordable, with incredible ocean views best describe the Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course.

The AT&T Pro-Am is in full swing! What a great time to talk golf. If you share in the passion of golf I'm pretty sure you are already aware of the many world class golf courses in and around the Monterey Coast. Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Monterey Peninsula Country Club, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills, Cypress and Bayonet and Black Horse are just a few of the gorgeous well known and challenging courses in the area. Prices vary from course to course. Some courses have reciprocal agreements, discount specials and cards. Monterey also has wonderful public courses that are very reasonably priced. Del Monte Golf Course, Monterey Pines and Laguna Seca are fun affordable and often easy to get a tee-time. A fan favorite is Pacific Grove municipal golf course. The front nine offers views of cypress trees, deer and a periodic glimpse of the bay. The back nine offers the challenge of natural sand landscaping and awe-inspiring views of the ocean…truly spectacular. If golf is your passion, you have found your happy place!
