The AT&T Pro-Am is in full swing! What a great time to talk golf. If you share in the passion of golf I'm pretty sure you are already aware of the many world class golf courses in and around the Monterey Coast. Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Monterey Peninsula Country Club, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills, Cypress and Bayonet and Black Horse are just a few of the gorgeous well known and challenging courses in the area. Prices vary from course to course. Some courses have reciprocal agreements, discount specials and cards. Monterey also has wonderful public courses that are very reasonably priced. Del Monte Golf Course, Monterey Pines and Laguna Seca are fun affordable and often easy to get a tee-time. A fan favorite is Pacific Grove municipal golf course. The front nine offers views of cypress trees, deer and a periodic glimpse of the bay. The back nine offers the challenge of natural sand landscaping and awe-inspiring views of the ocean…truly spectacular. If golf is your passion, you have found your happy place!

February kicks off with one of the biggest area events of the year, the AT&T Pro Am. A week of absolute fun with many of the world's best professional golfers playing with a star-studded list of well know professional athletes, musicians, and actors. Not all the fun is on the course however, as many of the participants can be seen enjoying the nightlife, mingling with the locals and visitors at various restaurants and watering holes in and around Carmel. Also, on tap for February is the River Road Wine Trail Valentine's Passport. Several vintners along the Wine Trail have banded together to help you celebrate with your valentine. Receive a souvenir glass, entry into a grand drawing, special discounts, fun, food, and celebrate all things amour. Each winery will be hosting their own wine and food pairing, specifically to suit the love surrounding Valentine's Day. In addition to the featured events, there are many monthly, weekly and nighty events. Carmel has many events taking place every month at the Sunset Center, Pacific Rep / Golden Baugh and Forest theaters. A monthly Art Walk in Carmel is also a favorite. Pebble Beach, Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove and Marina all have weekly farmers markets. Additionally, many of the restaurants, hotels and bars offering nightly music.

The Fed is expected to hike rates at their March meeting, which is also new Fed Chair Jerome Powell's first press conference. What does this mean for home loan rates? Well contrary to public perception this does not mean that home mortgage rates will immediately rise. In some cases, it actually causes home loan rates to go down. What a Fed hike will do is increase rates on short term money. Home Equity lines of credit, student loans, credit cards, etc. If you have a Home Equity line of credit now or if you're thinking of obtaining one for home improvement, debt consolidation, purchasing of a new home or for any reason, consider utilizing a cash out refi as an alternative to secure in the lowest possible rate and maintain the higher tax benefits allowable under the new tax law. If you would like more information on mortgages let me know and I'll connect you with an excellent mortgage partner.
Thoughts while cycling… The Monterey Coast has many micro-markets. What this means is that within communities like Pacific Grove, Monterey, Pebble Beach and Carmel there are areas with home values that can vary substantially from location to location within that community. There are the normal factors that play a large role in value such as age, condition, style and general location and demand. However, being near the coast, quaint cities/towns and beautiful golf courses these additional factors impact the price and value of homes. Ocean views, walking distance to town, beach access, recreational hiking or trail access and golf course living all affect home values. The good news is that there really is something for most everyone! Call me and I'll help you find the perfect place!
