What's Your Passion?
Do you have a passion for hiking? Whether you're a serious adventurous hiker or a casual hiker who simply enjoys walks in nature there are many places to explore along the Monterey Coast. Big Sur is one place that attracts local and visiting hikers from around the world. The breathtaking views are simply unending. Spectacular views of the ocean, marine wildlife, coastal nature and redwood forests abound. Get a glimpse of a migrating gray, humpback, occasional blue whale or one of the giant Condors, a species still recovering from extinction. Big Sur offers miles of trails both easy and challenging. If you have a limited amount of time, hikingbigsur.comrecommends two trails that are easily accessible by the same parking lot located just off Highway 1. McWay Waterfall Trail (.64 mi) and the Ewoldsen Trail (4.5 mi) are both stunningly beautiful and picturesque. Homecrafters Marketplace
As we rapidly approach the holidays Carmel is helping prepare for the gift-giving season by holding its Annual Homecrafters Marketplace. Approximately 100 Central Coast vendors from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties join together to display and sell their handmade crafts and artwork. As each vendor has been subjected to a jury panel for selection to ensure high-quality goods and a wide range of unique offerings there is surely something to please everyone on your gift-giving list! This wonderful annual event will be held at the Sunset Cultural Center (San Carlos St between 8th and 9th) on November 18th 9am – 3pm.

The AT&T Pro-Am is in full swing! What a great time to talk golf. If you share in the passion of golf I'm pretty sure you are already aware of the many world class golf courses in and around the Monterey Coast. Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Monterey Peninsula Country Club, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills, Cypress and Bayonet and Black Horse are just a few of the gorgeous well known and challenging courses in the area. Prices vary from course to course. Some courses have reciprocal agreements, discount specials and cards. Monterey also has wonderful public courses that are very reasonably priced. Del Monte Golf Course, Monterey Pines and Laguna Seca are fun affordable and often easy to get a tee-time. A fan favorite is Pacific Grove municipal golf course. The front nine offers views of cypress trees, deer and a periodic glimpse of the bay. The back nine offers the challenge of natural sand landscaping and awe-inspiring views of the ocean…truly spectacular. If golf is your passion, you have found your happy place!
If you are passionate about marine life, including whale watching then Monterey, Carmel and Moss Landing are great places to observe migrating whales. There are two seasons for whale watching in Monterey Bay. From mid-December through mid-April gray whales, dolphins and killer whales can be seen just off the coast as the gray whales make their migration trek south towards Baja.
